You can always build a sensor to check the level of H2O. Water injection also increases boost levels due to the water sealing the rotors of the charger.
Lungren do you know a place to purchase either a J&S and a MSD 6BTM for a cheap price. Maybe we can start one of those group deals again. Hehehe

Hmmm...a J&S group buy sounds like a good idea. I'd be willing to go in on it if it were to happen before the end of the month.

From what I've heard the water injection is a waste and doesn't actually do much. My opinion would be to spend your money elsewhere. Go with an MSD ignition instead.
The J&S would be my first choice though. It will let you run harder than you would ever dream of without hurting your engine otherwise. The best of both worlds performance and reliability.
Hope that helps,

Water injection may be of benefit in lieu of intercooling when the boost is raised much beyond 8psi with an unmodded JRSC system. The J&S should also provide some measure of protection in the event that the water is allowed to run out.

Well here's my situtation, I'm going to boost a JRSC between 8 to 10 psi soon. I was wondering whether I should just go with a MSD 6BTM and water injection, OR go with a J&S detonation device and water injection. These two alternatives will cost around $800 - $1000 respectively. This may seem to cost a lot but I want that piece of mind when I'm boosting pressures that high on a stock HONDA engine. Any opinions?

J&S safeguard, then tune it with the BTM, hands down.
Water injection is ok, but what happends when your out of water?

FWIW, My dad was a Navy aircraft mechanic crew chief in WWII and they used water injection on the supercharged fighter planes. He went up for final engine checks with the pilots, and said the extra boost with water injection was a real "kick in the pants". It was intended for emergency / short term use only. The pilots used their air brakes, or boost to avoid getting hit.

where did you guys get your MSD 6BTM? is it easy to install? does anybody have any instructions/pics of the install? where did you guys get it and how much??

Read this:

Remember also that the BTM doesn't hear knock, and that it can already be happening, even before you can hear it.
The J&S detects the knocking even before it's humanly audible, so as far as it not detecting it until after it's happened, is kind of an oversite.
You DON'T want to use the J&S to retard the timing all day long, rather, and ideally you want install the J&S, then use the monitor to see where it is retarding in the RPM range and under what boost, then use the BTM to tune it so that the J&S doesn't have to retard it much, if rarly. Also from those who have it, they've noticed that the J&S only retards mid range, not at full boost. At full boost there is enough fuel that you don't need full a retard.

Hmmm...I've been researching on the net for a while and found some interesting tidbits on how the J&S works. Here are some links:
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/D...s_install.html
http://www.supernet.net/~dommelen/mi...odies/j_s.html
http://www.american-pi.com/safegard.html
(Thanks Silvino)
It was interesting to find out, on a miata anyway, that the J&S actually works by sensing only two parameters. The two parameters are the crank trigger sensor and MAF sensor. Since Hondas don't have MAF's, I wonder which sensor its connected to on our cars. Do you guys think that these two parameters are enough to distinguish knock? OBTW, who on this board has one, maybe they can shed more light into this device. Thanks.
